Empowering immigrants during arrest to quickly get security notifications, emergency contacts and legal aid with one-click.
Immigration enforcement actions can have devastating impacts on immigrant families. While there is no way to fully eliminate the potential risk that comes with enforcement actions are simple, critical steps that people can take to prepare and protect themselves.
But until now, emergency planning resources came in the form of lengthy PDFs and instructional articles that put a lot of cognitive burden on people who are already experiencing distress.
This increases the risk that if they are detained, dependents will be left without care, loved ones will be left in the dark, and attorneys will not have what they need to come to their defense.
Ready Now is a mobile application that simplifies emergency planning and – in the event of an ICE encounter – puts these plans into action with one quick, click of a button.
Upon initial sign-in, the app carefully guides users to develop a series of emergency messages, containing critical information required for child and dependent care, personal safety, and legal defense.
If faced with arrest, the user simply presses the big, red alert button, and ReadyNow will securely notify and deliver the emergency messages to pre-assigned personal contacts and legal aid so they can take swift action.
Connection to Legal Support. Another key innovation is our partnership with Acacia Center for Justice and NILRA, a pro-bono network of removal defense attorneys.
When developing their emergency plans, users that do not have legal aid can opt-into the NILRA if they are detained, which ensures key information will reach to legal support providers.
